Incubators & Accelerators

Accelerators vs. Incubators: What's the Difference?

These terms sometime get used interchangeably, but they're not the same thing.

Let's take a look at the difference and what it means to you and your business.

Accelerators take small equity positions (10% or less) in externally developed ideas in return for small amounts of capital and mentorship over the course of no more than 6 months.

Incubators, on the other hand, takes a larger amount of equity (20%+) but will bring in an external management team to manage an idea that was cultivated by an entrepreneur internally. Entrepreneurs are lulled for much longer periods of time and keep a closer eye on progress.

Funding Window has compiled a comprehensive list of Accelerators and Incubators to facilitate you in finding success.
